Beam: W Shapes W8 X 10

Columns: W-Wide Flange -Column W40 X 503 (for the main structure)

W Shapes- Column W12 X 40 (for the meeting room under the atrium)

Beam System: W8 X10

Foundation Slab: Concrete-square 30 X 30

Isolated Foundation: Footing-Rectangular 72” X 48” X18”

I used two different columns in my building. One is W-Wide Flange Column. The flange shape column is known to be one of the best beam shear stress performances. Therefore, I put these columns on the three sides of the building to support the most concrete structure. Because the middle of the building is an atrium, I did not install any columns in the atrium. Instead, I put four columns on the four corners of the atrium to support the building.

Under the atrium, there are three glass-curtain meeting rooms on each floor. I decide to use W-shape column instead of flange column in order to save money and reduce the column size.

On the East and West sides of the building, there are two balconies. I used the W-wide flange column to support the balcony and curtain wall system.
