The design thinking process for this project began with observing the negative impacts of the parking-induced traffic at town and country village in Palo Alto. While ideating, I came up with the idea of a system that would show users the closest available parking space to their destination. This system would take the form of either a physical interface at the public space itself, or an app that could be downloaded beforehand. After creating a prototype for the app, … testing and additional rounds of interviews led to a change in the product. I redesigned the app as a fully fledged navigator, with parking space functionality built in, which received more positive feedback from another round of tests. The final app is shown here.
