Description
I decided to extend the classroom portion of Y2E2 to create space to for the gallery, patio, and etc. This allowed me to extend the patio portion on the third floor to have a lounge and dining space. Additionally, the study space and maker studio on the second level allows for collaboration. I decided to put them together to facilitate collaboration and independent work. On the first level is the gallery, where student's work will be hung up. The gallery space has partially connected interior walls to allow work to hung up or highlighted in alcoves. I wanted to take an artistic and minimal design to the gallery space and having these interior walls allow them to be changed up any time. Lastly, the the curtain walls on the proposed design allows for more sunlight to come into the study space and gallery. This juxtaposes the tiny but abundant windows in the original building.
