For the design of the research station, I wanted to take into account the flow of people through space. I started with a simple rectangular floor plan that fit the required square footage. Then I separated office and bathroom spaces. Instead of creating a T shape building, I went for a zig zag. This way, the entrance is on the right side of the image above, to the maker space in the middle, with easy access to the office. Windows on the south facing side harness the light and bring it into common spaces. The pitch of the roof and the breath of its surface accommodates solar power.
