What types of building information are best portrayed in 3D views?

  • The furniture and components of built spaces are best portrayed in 3D in terms of how they fit in spaces in general, in terms of height and size but also how spaces are navigated with and in comparison to human size.

Should your design ideas always be conveyed through photorealistic renders?

  • No, as for construction purposes other views like sheets, floor plans, section and details can come in handy and can be more useful that a 3D model, which would be very useful for a client, for instance, in understating what their vision looks like in the built environment.

How can schedule views be used to assist with procurement and model-based estimating?

  • Counting in floor plans can be so time consuming, hence having an excel sheet like view of the dimension and numbers of the every item can be useful to estimate costs, whether that be through brand suppliers simply multiplying price by quantity (formula in schedule view) or just simply estimating cost based on material and dimension total. Additionally, for custom items, schedules can be useful for a quick mathematical and technical resource for the carpenter or welder, etc… who is creating the component.
