My inspiration for this design was the Pokemon Ninetales and its sweeping tails.
The system was modeled with a system of 5 arcs with 3 control points for each (yellow section). The control points take a parabolic shape for the left, center, and right points, and the points for the left, center, and right points can be modified in each of the x, y, and z, directions by the sliders in the light purple section. The overhang height can also be modified by affecting the height of the center point of the 5th arc.
The rectangular base beams were created with sweeps. The curves on the left and right were made by merging the necessary points and a interpolate curves. Those and the first arc were then swept with a rectangle cross section using the method from the course modules.
The diamond panels were created with a loft from the merged 5 arcs.
The edges and surfaces of the diamond shapes (excluding the edge triangles) were extracted using “BrepEdges” and “DeconstructBrep. ” The ribs were created using “pipes” and the panels were reconstructed by displaying the surfaces.
Last, the base beams, ribs, and panels were baked into Rhino and rendered.
Below are screenshots after modifying some of the options in the light purple section as proof that they can be changed. The left one modifies the number of panels, the left points x coordinate, the center points y coordinate, and the overhang height. The right image modifies the number of panels and the right points x and z coordinates, and the overhang height.
