My column layout is shown in the picture above. The column layout I designed was trying to avoid the stairs, windows and the edges of the walls. I repeated the same procedure of my beam systems, and I also deleted some unnecessary elements which is not reasonable.
I was trying not to set any column and beam exposed in the center of any room to maximize the available room and make the transition more smooth.
I chose the steel frame structure since it has more flexibility of spans and more durable than the timber system, but the trade off is, the price may be more expensive.
For the size selection, I chose W12x26 for my beam system, since is a pretty small size, the view of the room should be very good.
