  • Revise the floor framing at Level 2 to provide beams around the floor opening at the atrium.
    • Open the Level 2 - Structural plan view.
    • Open the Beam tool.
    • Place new beams at the left and right sides of the floor opening -- spanning from grid line 2 to grid line 3.
    • Place additional beams spanning from side-to-side between the new beams at the sides of the floor opening.
  • Adjust the beam system in this column bay to avoid placing beams across the floor opening.
    • Remove the existing beam system in this column bay.
    • Create new beam systems to fill-in between the beams at the sides of the floor opening.
      • Set the Beam Type for these new beam systems toW Shapes: W8x10.
      • Use the Automatic Beam System placement tool to create beam systems with beams running parallel to grid lines D and E.

  • Revise the floor framing at Level 2 to provide support for the cantilevered floor area at the front of the building.
    • Open the Level 2 - Structural plan view.
    • Open the Beam tool.
    • Place a new W12x26 beam to support the left edge of the cantilevered floor area.
    • Mirror this beam about the center of the cantilever to the create another beam supporting the right edge.
    • Place a new W12x26 beam at the end of the cantilever, connecting the ends of the other new beams.
    • Lower the height of the existing beam on grid line 4 (spanning between grid lines D & E) by 12” to allow the cantilevering beams to pass over it.
  • Copy these updated beams to the clipboard and use the Paste Aligned to Selected Levels tool to place similar beams on Level 3.
