Workflow

  • Step 1: Load MEP Versions of Component Families
    • Library > Lighting > MEP > Internal or External
      • Ceiling-Hosted
        • Troffer Light - 2x4 Parabolic
        • Downlight - Recessed Can or Spot
      • Wall-Hosted
        • Sconce Light - Uplight
      • Free Standing
        • Floor Lamp - Torchiere
  • Step 2: Place Lighting Components
    • Switch to Lighting Plan views
      • Floor Plans = Down
      • Ceiling Plans = Up
    • Place Lighting Components
      • Systems > Electrical > Lighting Fixture
      • In the Type Selector, select a fixture type.
      • Choose Placement Mode
        • Place on Vertical Face
        • Place on Face -- may need to add a ceiling element
        • Place on Work Plane
        • 💡
          Most lighting fixtures are hosted components that must be placed on a host component (a ceiling or wall).
      • Move the cursor over the drawing area.
      • 💡
        The lighting fixture is previewed as you move the cursor over a valid host or location in the drawing area.
      • Click to place the lighting fixture.

Determining Whether a Lighting Fixture is Inside a Room

Since the room calculation point specifies which space the lighting fixture is in, it is also reflected in schedules. For example, if you include a column in the schedule with Space data, such as name and number, the space dictated by the room calculation point will be used.
