Plumbing System
Type | Number in Building |
Urinal with Wings - Wall Hung | 4 |
Wall Closet - Flush Valve - Wall Mounted | 4 |
Lavatory - Wall Mounted - 19”x14” - Public | 4 |
There are two gender-neutral restrooms on each floor with a toilet, urinal, and sink in each one.
To begin my plumbing system, I had to edit my architectural model to add interior walls to split the restroom into two rooms. Also, I added a ~1’ spacing for the pipes to be placed for the wall mounted elements. For the urinal, I had to create a junction because not all three elements would fit on the same wall in the 2nd floor restroom.
Piping System
Type | Pipe Diameter |
Sanitary | 3” |
Domestic Hot Water | 1 1/2” |
Domestic Cold Water | 1 1/2” |
All four restrooms are connected by 1 vertical pipe for each plumbing type. I found a section in the 1’ spacing where both connect and ran a pipe from there.
Coordination View & Challenges
Some challenges I had was plumbing all four restrooms with one vertical system. Initially, I thought I would have to run the pipes through second floor to get it aligned. When I found the intersection, I was difficult lining up the pipes so that they don’t intersect while keeping them confined in their respective 1’ space. Another problem I had was piping the urinals in the second floor. This required me to go around a corner to get to the urinal section and making sure there was spaced.
From my coordination view, my main problem will be the structural element and HVAC system. I will have to make the columns taller to avoid running into the beam system with the ducts. Also, the beam system is too tall on the research center side so I will have to lower it. However, my plumbing system fits with the other systems.
