Key Findings from the Interview

  • What does "Sustainability" mean to you?

Something that is sustainable is durable and ecofriendly.

  • What do you mean by "durable" ?

Durable is something that can last long and able to withstand constant pressure.

  • Can you list to me some stuff that you consider sustainable ?

Concrete Slabs, recycled steel, and even hemp.

  • Can you elaborate more on hemp ?

My university professors did a study on the behavior of Concrete Columns Wrapped with Hemp Fabrics. This research aimed at understanding the effect of different parameters that may affect the structural behavior of concrete columns confined with fiber-reinforced polymers such as the number of the confining layers, the columns slenderness ratio, and the addition of transverse steel reinforcement. This study gave positive results in the use of natural fibers as external confinement.
