Module 6 - Evaluate Your Alternatives
- Recommended Building Form
- Final Design Inputs
- Original Building Form
‣
- Building is composed of a two floor podium and tower.
- The podium and tower are formed with triangular profiles and fillet arc corners.
- The podium is formed with two profiles while the tower is formed with three profiles at base, mid and top height.
- The profile widths are 75% of profile depths
- Tower depth is 80% of the podium depth.
- Top profile is rotated 180 degrees.
‣
- Mid tower profile height is kept at half the building height.
- No rotation at podium, tower base and top profiles.
‣
- Three input values tested with modifications to custom nodes - Building Height, Floor Depth and Mid-Floor Profile Rotation.
- Building Height Test Range: 500..750..50.
- Floor Depth Test Range: 300..435..27.
- Mid Floor Rotation Range: 7.5..45..7.5.

‣
- Modification of Module 6 custom nodes to incorporate three input parameters.
- Filter raw results for building forms with gross floor areas within 1,200,000 to 1,500,000 SF using list nodes such as: Create, Combine, Map, Flatten, Chop, Transpose, TakeItems, First/Last item, AllIndices, GetItemAtIndex, SetDifference, Empty, Intersection, Replace, Clean etc.
- Maintain plan view floor areas within 300’ x 450’ and a height limitation of 750’.
- Minimum building surface area using the GFA:GSA ratio.
- Maximum building solar insolation potential measured by the available cumulative insolation
- Minimum construction cost using an assumed $/SF construction cost of $700/SF at the ground level to $1500/SF at 750’ above the ground.

‣
Maximum and minimum values of the filtered and sorted gross floor areas within the project brief range are weighted as follows and a combined score generated - with space efficiency and space value of highest importance and accounting for 75% of the combined score.
- Space Efficiency - 1
- Insolation Potential - 1
- Space Value - 2
- Directness Score - 1

‣
Building form 1 scores the highest combined score due to its highest gross floor area and a better solar insolation potential although its the costliest.
Building form tower rotation has an impact on the space efficiency with form rotations over 30 degrees resulting in reduced gross floor areas.
