Description

This proposed design explores the effect of curtain walls on opening a space to light, air, and bringing the outside in. This house is designed to ensure users remain in conversation with nature, with ample outdoor seating areas and the use of and protected but outdoor staircase to connect users to the landscape. The entire site was rotated such that the front aligns with the natural slope, allowing the house itself and its slight roof slope to have an intimate and almost equal relationship with the existing topography. Trees were carefully placed to enhance outside views while providing reprieve in the main lounge space from too much sun in the afternoon. Each of the top rooms and the study have views unique to each room, giving users a special experience no matter where they stay. This was theoretically located in Kelowna, British Columbia as it is known as the land of four seasons and thus a perfect place in which to place a four seasons vacation home.
