- the supply routing exercise is very challenging and interesting. When I first got the architecture design of the building, I realized that we should install VRV HVAC system for this building. Because this building contains a lot of different functionalities like office, cafe, meeting room, etc. VRV HVAC system allows the separate control of the HVAC system in each room, which can save a lot of energy.
- Future recommendations on future development.
- Carbon Dioxide detection in each room, so that you can control each room’s usage to better optimize the heating, cooling and ventilation supply of the room
- radiant heating system. Currently we only considered about using HVAC system on each room. However, if we can use radiant heating system in some common space like cafe or meeting room, it can save a lot more energy but also provide enough heating and cooling
- Plug load monitor system. Plug load is one of the biggest energy consumption in a commercial. If we can install a monitor system on that, we can control the plug load for some electronics that is not being used commonly but consume a large amount of energy.
However, Installing VRV HVAC system is kinda hard to draw a perfect supply & return routine. Because you not only need to install the VRV in each room but also install the air terminal in each room. So it spends me a lot of time organizing the layout of the whole HVAC system.
