What are the principal advantages of creating a conceptual design model using masses before diving into the detailed design and building element modeling?
Should all buildings be modeled first using conceptual masses?
Whether or not someone would use conceptual models depends on many factors. If one is designing a building that's simple architecturally, conceptual masses aren't needed. Small houses with flat, straight walls and no architectural intricacies won't need conceptual masses. Modeling using conceptual masses is recommended for large, complex buildings where architecture and design detail is important. Conceptual masses is where ideas for complex curvature and intriguing building shapes come to life.
