This field research station exemplifies a sustainable design by incorporating as much self-sufficiency, as seen with the photovoltaic panels across the north and southern roofs. In addition, to take advantage of passive sunlight, this design takes advantage of the southern sunlight through large windows, and the skylights on the southern roof to light up the working space. In addition to bringing light in, there are several east and west-facing windows to provide ventilation and cool down the working space. In order to create a flowing and spacious work setting, the bathroom and storage rooms are set towards the back in their respective wings, to open and maximize a comfortable work venue. The work setting is open to creating a collaborative environment and is also complemented by a discussion table in the back to have more in-depth conversations and presentations. In addition to being sustainable and collaborative, this space is also inclusive by being ADA-compliant by leaving working spaces, pathways, and doors at least 3 feet wide while also having an ADA-compliant restroom.
