Description

During my design process, I decided to prioritize sustainability and simplistic design while constructing my field research station. As seen in the image above, there are windows bringing in light from the north, south, east, west, and even through the roof with the construction of skylight windows. I also placed solar panels in different regions of my roof to best capture solar energy at different points throughout the day. As for the structural design itself, I experimented with a more simplistic approach to add aesthetic to this research station. The slanted roof is one example of how simplicity can be replicated into design while also optimizing sustainability and building efficiency. Aside from the storage room, ADA bathroom, and desks featured in the research station, I decided to included a lab equipment cart and interactive spaces for biologists to further their explorations in their fields.
