Description
My proposed design for a field research station is a building with an open floor plan and multiple windows on all sides (except the bathroom for privacy purposes) to maximize the capture of light and heat during the day. These windows also provide ventilation and may be opened to cool the building while it’s occupied. The expansive roof area is large and thus creates a suitable space for installing solar panels. The building is designed with an ADA-compliant bathroom that has a diameter greater than five feet and ADA-compliant doors at least 32” wide.
The majority of this space is designed for work and research purposes. Immediately upon entry, occupants stand in an open room where there is a meeting area, a lab space, and individual work desks. This open floor plan creates a comfortable, collaborative environment for occupants to work in.
