I selected the vacation home option for this assignment, as I felt inspired to tune into my creative side and ultimately, have a little fun with this challenge.
My design was inspired by an Airbnb I stayed at in Greece -- the overall design revolved around curtain walls, energy conservation measures, and spacious, naturally lit living spaces. I believe mental health should be at the forefront of every design, especially those for vacations, which is why I decided to surround the location with green space. To further enhance the magic of nature, I implemented solar panels on the roof, as well as wind power generators as energy conservation measures within my design. The greatest challenge I encountered was adding the spiral staircase since I was unable to fully connect the staircase to the upper level floor. To facilitate adding stairs, I could have opted for the 90 degree staircase option; however, I believe the final version of my spiral staircase turned out good enough.
The vacation home features 4 bedrooms, 2 complete restrooms (one on each floor), a beautiful spiral staircase with a grand piano on the second floor surrounded by an all-glass facade.
