Description
My proposed design for the Retail Center aims to create an active and adaptable space where people can shop, eat, and unwind in one setting. The building includes two levels of retail space totaling around 4,800 square feet, divided into three flexible bays designed to support a range of small businesses. The rooftop serves as the heart of the project, featuring a restaurant bar and lounge that opens to an enclosed small-sided turf field for casual soccer games and community gatherings. I wanted the design to feel modern but grounded, using open storefront glazing to bring in light and warmth while keeping a distinctly modern character. Each level includes restrooms, storage, and on L1, a small office that doubles as a flexible overnight space for the building manager. The overall goal was to merge retail, recreation, and community in a single design that feels social, functional, and connected to its environment. Soccer is one of my passions and seeing it come to life even if at a basic level gave me much joy.
