What are the principal advantages of creating a conceptual design model using masses before diving into the detailed design and building element modeling?
It’s really helpful to see the form of the building first and it allows you to make more original shapes before being bound to the logistics of placing floors and walls and such in.
Should all buildings be modeled first using conceptual masses?
Modeling with a conceptual mass is particularly helpful for large buildings (commercial buildings) and buildings that take less traditional forms. For a small house, I would probably not use a conceptual mass.
