My project builds on my previous design for the extension to the student center; I was inspired by the idea of terraces and topographic maps, and I thought that massing would be a good method to accomplish the curved design I was going for. The topographic nature of the building is meant to emulate the surrounding area and promote wellness and integration of the environment into the space. The other side of the building is a large curtainwall that juxtaposes with the natural, tree-lined side and brings natural light into the building. A circular entry atrium extends up two stories. In the final design, most of the ground floor would be public accessible areas, while the office spaces would mainly be on the upper floors, and there would be many windows on the vertical walls of the terraces.
