Description
I am from Jackson, Wyoming, so I was imagining that this research station would be located somewhere in the area, specifically Grand Teton National Park. The park has the most magnificent views of the Tetons, so I was imagining that the large windows on one side of the building would provide not only light and heat for the building but a beautiful view of the mountains. This is also why rather than single desks, I made a counter space so that researchers would be able to look out the windows while they were working, and they are able to work standing up if they want to. I have included an 80 SF storage area, a small round table for meetings, a sink, some cabinets, an 8-foot lab table, an ADA compliant bathroom, and photovoltaic panels on the roof. I kept the footprint of the building very simple so that it could easily be built by hand as specified in the project instructions. There are 20 photovoltaic panels on the building because Wyoming does not have good solar potential because of the weather. The slanted roof would allow for snow to come off, but it would need to be frequently cleared off in the winter to avoid damage to the panels.
