Description
For my design of the field research station, I wanted to have a design that was easily constructible with simple dimensioning since this was important to the stakeholders. This lead to the creation of a rectangular building with simple interior wall layouts. The storage room and bathroom are in in a line with one another on the West End of the building. The main space is open concept with spaces that foster collaboration as the meeting area, lab table and three work spaces are all within visual of one another. Many windows were added on the South end of the station, as requested by the stakeholders which allows significant airflow and sunlight to be brought into the building if needed. The gable roof has its slopes on the North and South sides of the building for sunlight opportunities for the photovoltaic panes.
