In this design, I’ve made a near mirror image of the pre-existing structure. However, I chose to make the new building only two stories and make it a students center. Inside is a featured cafe, art gallery with piano, student study rooms, two maker spaces, private meeting rooms, and open social spaces with couches. In junction with the existing building, it has an open courtyard structure that will enclose tables outdoors for people to work at and under the archways as well for protection from the sun. There are two preliminary design options to chose between for the first floor. One option has many small meeting spaces which will allow 4 groups of 6 people to meet within. The alternative is two open study spaces with many individual desks and just one big meeting space. These are to present two different options for how students may prefer to study, work, and create in these spaces.
