Description

My design prioritizes a very straightforward construction for the students. Further, there are plenty of south-facing windows as well as double glass-sliding doors to prioritize natural heating. I opted for having only 2 slope-defining sides so that there would be more surface area on the south roof face for solar panel placements. All researchers have desks in a row in front of double-hung windows so that a) they can open their own windows easily for localized breeze, b) they’re all in a line and can always check in on each other, and c) have beautiful views of the preserve :). I tried to keep the space feeling as open as possible, with the storage door on the end, the lab bench in the middle behind the desks, and a nice open space in the back for meetings, bathroom access, and a back door.
