HVAC Systems - Bhagya Devnani

Overall HVAC Strategy:

Since the project is located in San Mateo, CA, we expect to see slightly more cooling loads than heating loads. However, due to half the exhibits being outside, with the use of an amphitheater, we expect the number of people inside the building to be lower than usual as there would be some number of people always outside. Hence, our cooling loads are expected to be slightly lower.

The ventilation is mechanically provided by the HVAC systems as shown in the Space schedule below:

There will be passive gains due to the type of lowE/clear double glazing used on all curtain walls and windows. However, no passive gains from shading due to the dome-like structure used for the roof. We will be using an air-based ducted heating and cooling system for this building.
