Goal 1: Create a connected exhibit space that allows past and future portions of the exhibit to be visible as the visitor moves through the exhibit (useable)

• Measure:  Spatial layout
• Targets:
• Minimum: visibility of one past and one future exhibit space
• Desired: visibility of all exhibit spaces
• Strategies:
• Large atrium as a central connection point among all the exhibits
• Ramp system

Goal 2: Reduce energy usage (operable)

• Measure:  Energy use intensity (energy used per year/area)
• Targets:
• Minimum: net zero site energy
• Desired: net zero source energy
• Strategies:
• Take advantage of natural light – for natural heating, solar power
• Green roofs – natural insulation reduces heating and cooling needs

Goal 3: Utilize sustainable and durable construction materials for the structure (sustainable)

• Measure:  Emissions associated with material preparation & transportation/expected life span & renovation needs
• Targets:
• Minimum: 50% structural components sustainably sourced; all nonstructural details sustainably sourced
• Desired: all structural & nonstructural components sustainably sourced
• Strategies:
• Use locally sourced materials
• Incorporate recycled materials
