For my Sustainable Built Environment Learning and Exhibition Center there are a few ideas that I would like to make central to the sustainability practices used in my building. Some of the sustainable features I’d like to include are low-energy consumption, solar panels, as well as a green roof, water conservation (especially if in a climate that is drier, such as California), and the biggest component for me, is that the building interacts and respects the landscape surrounding it. I went to high school in one of the “greenest buildings in California,” and so I’ve been lucky enough to have experience with sustainable building practices. With this being said, I have very minimal sustainable design experience, so I’m ready to put in the work to learn. Here are some of the buildings and concepts that I plan to draw inspiration from:
