In my Sustainable Built Environment Learning and Exhibition Center design, I would like to explore the interaction between the natural and built environments and what that means for sustainability by considering the interior and exterior space. I gained some inspiration from the ZCB Zero Net Carbon Building in Hong Kong which makes use of both indoor and outdoor spaces:

Along those lines, I was also considering how urban farming and green space can positively contribute to sustainability goals. I drew some inspiration from the Dixon Water Foundation Josey Pavilion in Texas that incorporates passive and active ventilation and other elements of energy efficient design. The space is used as an agricultural education center and meeting location. I would want to incorporate an education space dedicated to urban farming and agriculture:

Another interesting design I found is the BIQ House in Hamburg, Germany which is a building powered by microalgae. It makes use of bio-reactive facades that generate biomass and heat as sources of energy. Other features of energy efficient design such as thermal insulation and shading are also present through this unique use of microalgae. I am not sure I would make my walls include biological material within walls, but is an interesting consideration:

Here are some of my initial concept ideas and sketches of the design that I am considering and working with:
