Morton Arboretum

This might not be a typical exhibition space in the sense that it is outdoors, but for me what first came to mind was the Morton Arboretum in Lisle, Illinois. Not only is it a public garden, but it’s also an outdoor museums of sorts with a library and herbarium, and a research center. What makes this a great exhibition space to me is the ability for interaction and the complete transformation of the space. Not only are the pieces beautiful, but you can walk through them and actually be a part of them.

Science and Industry Museum

Another exhibition space that came to mind was the Chicago Science and Industry Museum. As a kid I went to the museum for school field trips and was just wowed. When you look at the building form the outside, it’s beautiful, but very classical. So when you open the doors and get to explore it feels like you are transported to an entirely different place. But, along the same lines as the Morton Arboretum, the interactive aspect of the exhibition is really what makes it great. There is an airplane suspended in the air that you can board, there’s a train, a storm station and so much more. Being able to completely transform a space is definitely another aspect that makes it great.
