Plumbing System Overview
My plumbing system consists of a men's and women’s restroom on the first floor and second floor, and an all-gender restroom on the third floor. The men’s restroom has 4 toilets, 2 urinals, and 2 sinks. Women’s restroom with 6 toilets and 2 sinks. All-gender restroom has 3 toilets and 1 sink. Moreover, they also have a large restroom stall to allow for easy maneuverability for wheelchair users.
The design of restroom walls has a thickness of 12 inches to allow for the placement of piping within the walls. Additionally, I tried to take advantage of using greywater systems to supply and collect water. Collecting greywater will help decrease overall water usage and therefore further meet sustainability strategies. The main trunks of the fire sprinkler system were also placed at the first-level mechanical room.

Plumbing System Elements
- The toilets are water closet - flush valve - wall mounted public - 1.6 gpf.
- The sinks are 20” x 18” - wall-mounted public.
- The urinals are wall hung 1’’ flush valve.
- The sanitation pipes (shown in green) and greywater collection (shown in purple) are 4” in diameter and at a slope of 1/4” / 12”. Moreover, I modified sanitary pipes connect to the lavatory to ensure it is accessible for users with disabilities or limited mobility. The figures above show my modification of the sanitary pipes connected to the lavatory.
- The domestic cold (shown in blue), hot (shown in red), and greywater supply water pipes (shown in purple) are 1” in diameter and have no slope.
- The collection of greywater involves taking wastewater from the lavatory and redistributing it to the toilets instead of using cold water.
- The fire protection pipes (shown in orange) are 1 ¼’’ with a middle elevation of 15’.
Challenges:
It was challenging to properly slope and connect the sanitary piping and make sure the pipes do not collide. However, I managed to overcome this challenge by utilizing various section views to examine the pipes in the floor plan and frequently switching to the 3D view to confirm that the pipes were accurately connected and properly positioned.
