My design intent/goals are:
- Reduced energy usage
- Reduced water usage
- Reaching net-zero energy
Some targets/measures that I would like to hit are:
- 50% recycled materials
- 40% indoor water use reduction
- Optimize building energy performance by 30%
Design strategies I am considering are:
- Using water-efficient plumbing fixtures
- Installing solar panels
- Encouraging the use of EVs through charging stations
- Using glass ceilings and curtainwalls to allow natural day lighting. In my previous project, we used a product called Okalux which was a perforated metal sandwiched between glass which was both architecturally pleasing, but also worked as shading for the building as well.
- Installing energy efficient HVAC systems
- Using locally sourced, recycled materials that have EPDs (environmental product disclosures) for finishes in the building
- Having greenery/garden indoors/outdoors.
