Your Design Journal entries this week should highlight your design thinking and process in modeling:
- your plumbing system elements
Elements I used: Water Closet - Flush Valve - Wall Mounted Public - 1.6 gpf
Urinal with Wing - Wall Hung Standard
Lavatory - Wall Mounted 20”x18” - Public
- your piping systems
Domestic Hot Water Line: 4” main lines, 1/2” branch lines
Domestic Cold Water Line: 4” main lines, 3/4” branch lines
Sanitary Line: 4” main lines, 2” branch lines
- any special plumbing system challenges that you encountered and how you overcame them
First, due to the geometry of my building, the lines could not just be perpendicular. I had to rotate them to fit the shapes of the building. Second, the restrooms on the three levels were not the same size, so the numbers of units and fixtures are different. I could not copy the system on the first level and paste it to the second and third levels. Third, I spend a lot of time on the architectural model to build the appropriate partitions. I realized there needed to be space between partitions to place pipelines after I started working on the system model, so I had to edit the architectural model again. Finally, there are some fixtures in the middle of the restrooms, so I had to connect the pipelines to link them to the middle.
2nd Floor
3nd Floor
I had to hide a lot of elements (walls and partitions) to show the interior plumping system design.
