Initial result: 60.9 kBtu / ft2 / yr
Operating Schedule: 12/5 (as required)
Roof Construction: R38 (as required)
- My best result Predicted Mean EUI achievable for each of the three test cases outlined above:
- achievable through building envelope choices: 51.9 kBtu/ ft2 / yr
- achievable through building envelope + power & lighting choices: 32.1 kBtu / ft2 / yr
- achievable through adding Photovoltaic panels to the mix: -9.56 kBtu / ft2 / yr
The best result is to have 0% WWR, but I don’t think it makes sense, so I chose 30% WWR for all four directions. The EUI result is 51.9 kBtu / ft2 / yr, which is still lower than the target of 54 kBtu / ft2 / yr.
WWR (S, N, W, E): 30%
Window Shades (S, N, W, E): 2/3 Win Height
Window Glass (S, N, W, E): Trp LoE
Wall Construction: 14-inch ICF
*We were not asked to adjust infiltration.
EUI = 32.1 kBtu / ft2 / yr
Lighting Efficiency: 0.3 W/sf
Daylighting & Occupancy Controls: Daylighting & Occupancy Controls
Plug Load Efficiency: 0.6 W/sf
EUI = -9.56 kBtu / ft2 / yr
PV - Panel Efficiency: 20.4%
PV - Payback Limit: 20 yr
PV - Surface Coverage: 90%
