Sustainability in the scope of this project means creating a space that will not negatively affect the environment now or in the future. Utilizing green energy, long-term resource efficiency, ecologically-conscious building materials, environmentally conscious construction practices are all ways to ensure this project is sustainable. An inspirational project is The Bullitt Center in Seattle. The Bullitt Center has been awarded the Living Building Certification, which symbolizes excellent performance in energy (solar), water (operates within the water balance of the local climate) place (maintains a healthy relationship with nature), Materials (safe and sustainable products), Health + Happiness, Equity, and Beauty.
