Being from the Portland area, OMSI (Oregon Museum of Science and Industry) has a special place in my heart. Personal attachment aside, I think what makes this exhibition space so great is a variety of things. It has great architecture and landscaping that makes it stand out from it’s surroundings. Being located on the river (and also offering submarine tours) makes it a part of the heart of Portland as well. The interior also has a great mix of exhibits (with one section that gets rotated seasonally and for special occasions) designed for children as well as more complex exhibits for older people. The open concept of the interior architecture also gives a very “industrial” feel that also lets the occupants see many of the systems components of the building as well.
