Nice to meet you!

Hey!

My name is Aleksandra Vorozheikina (Sasha), and I am a second-year Master's student in Structural engineering. I completed my Bachelor's degree in civil engineering technology at Fairleigh Dickinson University. Playing tennis for almost 18 years and wanting to become an engineer like most of my family members, I caught a flight from Tambov, Russia to New York City to become a Division 1 student-athlete at FDU. Unfortunately, during my undergrad, I did not have a chance to have any industry experience (being an international student + studying during Covid did not help much). Still, I look forward to starting my structural engineering career this summer. Outside of classes, I enjoy staying active and exploring new places. Some of my favorite free time activities are visiting a museum/art gallery, visiting new places in a city, roller skating, biking, running, ice skating, and skiing, and I can continue this list for a while. And, of course, I would be happy to play some tennis if the time doesn’t allow me (I am not accepting retirement yet).

Here’s a picture of me being a competitive athlete:

I also want to share a picture of the Museum of the Future in Dubai. I felt very inspired by the exterior and interior design of the building.

Course interests and goals

I am excited about the course because BIM and Revit are being actively used in the industry right now, and getting comfortable with the software will be very useful for my future career. I think the project will require a lot of creativity and architectural ideas, which is different from solving structural engineering problems, so it is going to be a useful experience. I have not worked with Revit yet, but I hope to learn how to use the software and come up with a nice building for the project.
