Exercise A: Lowest EUI 53.5 kBtu/ft2/yr
The best improvements from these options are
Changing the WWR on the Southern, Eastern, and Western walls are effective, but my biggest suggestion is to change the envelope materials. Building with wood significantly improves the performance of the building.
Exercise B: Lowest EUI 43.6 kBtu/ft2/yr
My biggest recommendation is to improve the Plug Load Efficiency. By regulating it to 0.6W/sft the EUI drops significantly. Lighting efficiency should be the next priority, and daylighting/occupant controls do help, but not as significantly as the other two options.
Exercise C: EUI 3.76 kBtu/ft2/yr
By covering 90% of the roof in PVs, the payback limit and panel efficiency dramatically improve. I would prioritize roof coverage as it drastically improves the other two categories. Also, I would suggest the 20yr payback period. The building will realistically live for 80-150 years, so a 20 year payback is worth the expense.
