- The screenshot of an interior view of your merged model from the Model Coordination module
- A brief paragraph describing your structural system strategy
For my structural design I chose to go with the steel-frame system. I chose W 10x33 columns, W 14x30 for the beams, and W 8x10 for the beam systems. Using steel allowed me to have bigger spans so that it wasn’t so congested and had more open space. I removed the beam systems around the atriums and stairs. Also I tried to keep the open spaces, like the one pictured above, from having columns in the middle of the room so that the building feels less enclosed, hopefully meeting the designers goals. Some of the beams and columns go through interior walls but can be easily shifted over since the maximum span isn’t reached.
