What Does it Mean?
When I think abut sustainability and the promotion of a sustainable built environment, I think about technology serving an environment, a reduced carbon footprint, a building that has a net zero energy impact on its surrounding environment once it’s in place, and lastly, the process towards creating a self-sustainable building. Another piece that I think of in sustainability is an integration of nature and natural elements into design.
What Inspirational Examples Can We Learn From?
Products and services I find to be especially useful in net-zero building design are using hydronic heating and cooling systems to provide a more natural source, as well as using lighting options that focus more on natural resources so as not to expend too much energy on lighting.
