I am working with Site B - Jasper Ridge Biological Preserve

Building Site Context

Heating but not too much. Need to balance drop in T° at night (center might be empty)
Be careful with heat picks
A bit of natural ventilation possible from the Western facade

Searsville Lake on the East side of the site

Some houses and residential amenities on the West side of the site

Trees could provide natural shading of building's Eastern facade if placed west of the existing building

Something simpler...

Tried adding an overhang with an original design, to share mostly the South facade and a bit of the Eastern/Western facades but I think I would put trees there anyways
The PV energy production decreased significantly but it seems like my roof/overhang doesn't capture solar energy right now

Now it' interesting. I can put PV panels on the roof, while shading the South facade during Summer
These overhangs could be reused for water collection too. Right now they are not sloped very perfectly, will have to figure out how to adjust their slope properly. Maybe towards the center of the building, could be interesting!
Not sure yet if I want to keep an hexagonal shape because it might be too complex?

Quick drawing to show water collection and PV placement on roof:

Right now, this hexagonal shape with 4 floors gives me 26,828 sqft of floor area in total, which is close to the target for this exhibition center.

The EUI is as follows: it meets the ASHRAE standard but is way above the ARCH2030 target? (I chose the baseline as a museum)

It looks like the building orientation doesn't matter? Which is surprising to me, especially with the overhangs?

Zooming in it seems that the current building orientation is the most optimal, but it only makes a difference of a few cents /m²/year.

With daylighting/occupancy controls and the operating schedule to 12/6 or 12/5, the EUI gets better, but I think it's too early to study these impacts:
