Above is the structure for my building. I used steel columns and beams to reduce obstruction in my large exhibition spaces. I was rather liberal with the spacing of the columns so that I could ensure my structure was sound, but upon reflection I think I can use far fewer, because steel beams can span up to 50' (as stated in the practice exercise). I used trusses on the bottom exhibition spaces and in the open office so that the room could be free of obstruction. The most difficult part was figuring out how to get my structure to work with the curving facade on the front, and also figuring out how to cantilever the terrace off the back. I managed to put in beams for the terrace and draw in custom beam systems for the curved parts in the front.
