Both biological organisms and buildings have structures designed to connect - without these, they could not function correctly. For instance, a large buildings like Y2E2 might have a few central locations connected by many passageways and corridors. It might be possible to reach a central location via many routes, but ultimately the passageways are designed to lead to the most important parts of a structure. This is similar to the human body, which relies on many sets of veins and arteries to transport blood to and from vital organs, and relies on different tracts and systems to transport water and nutrients to the rest of the body.
