one of the provided building forms

The conceptual form I chose: Parametric Tower - Twisting Rounded Triangular Mass

To begin this task, I started by selecting the Twisting Rounded Triangular Mass from the shared folder's collection of conceptual mass components, and adjusted its parameters. Upon incorporating it into the Revit file, I established additional levels to segment the mass element into mass floors, enabling the calculation of the building's Gross Floor Area.

In order to fulfill the criteria of delivering between 1,200,000 and 1,500,000 SF of new floor space, adhering to the site development constraints – a maximum plan view of 300' x 450' – and respecting the height restriction of 750', I modified the mass parameters accordingly. For this, "Top Rotation" served as the single set input value for the instance parameters.

As introduced in the design brief, the project is situated in San Francisco, close to the new Transbay Terminal at 200 Folsom Street, in a quickly developing part of the city that offers a great view of the waterfront and the Bay Bridge. Consequently, I adjusted the project's location in Revit to be within the San Francisco Transbay area.

A brief description of design outlining the parameters that can be used to flex and dynamically change your building form

Step 1 – Set Up a Building Model to be Flexed and Tested using One of Our Example Revit Conceptual Mass Forms

Firstly, I established the Dynamo Graph logic to assess a single set of input, selecting Top Rotation for this purpose. Keeping the aesthetic aspect in mind, I carried out experiments by increasing the rotation in 15-degree increments, ranging from 70 to 160 degrees.

Step 2 – Build the Dynamo Graph Logic to Flex One of the Form’s Parameters

I employed the "BuildingForm.EvaluateSingleInput" custom node along with "List.Map" to systematically evaluate a variety of values for the input rotation parameter.

Step 3 – Report the Evaluation Metrics for At Least 6 Alternative Design Scenarios

I made use of "Data.ExportToExcel" to create an Excel summary table that displays the input values and corresponding calculation result (gross floor area, gross surface area, and gross volume) for each case in a clear and easily understandable format, as illustrated below.

As shown in the illustration, the calculated results meet the Gross Floor Area requirements ———1,200,000 to 1,500,000 SF. Additionally, this design adheres to the site development limitations of up to 300' x 450' in plan view and a height restriction of 750'.
