Anthony Gogola - Module 4

If this is going to be in Chicago, why not show city pride!? Located just along the South branch of the Chicago River in Chinatown is Ping Tom Memorial Park. Near the area where I grew up is this serene and breathtaking nature, right in the heart of Chicago. I decided to use this image taken in part of the park to showcase both aesthetics. However, this picture still doesn’t do the park justice because there is so much more to it including architecture, so you’ll just have to visit for yourself!

Below you will find 3 various angles of my model’s geometry mirroring the colors from the image above.

To begin, I continued with my Dynamo model from Module 3 in order to build off of it, ending at the left edge of the image below. My modeling approach was to utilize what was previosuly built as shelter for the public and incorporate a visual design onto it. I planned on adapting and enhancing my Dynamo code logic from Module 3 using what I learned in the module videos from Glenn.

To advance Module 4, I began by setting the number of panels to be used on a varibale slider, in both the U and V directions, and connected it to the image I imported. These colors were flattened, transposed, and overrode the adaptive panel colors. I also added the possibility of changing the height, or thickness, of the panels.

Continuing, I flipped the panels as to have them raise outward. I created various transposed and reversed lists to simulate different image conditions. Finally, I included multiple boolean nodes that the user can use to create different variations of the image model including the original photo, vertical flip, horizontal flip, and flipping in both directions.
