  • Documentation for how to use your tool. It should include:
    • A brief overview of what your tools does (to help users decide whether to download it and give it a try). Think of a “ReadMe” file for software.
      1. This is a comprehensive tool designed for Structural Engineers and Architecture Engineers, especially those who use Revit and Dynamo for building design and analysis. This tool is designed to simplify the complex calculations involved in determining the load-bearing capacity of various structural members in a building, ensuring efficiency and accuracy.

        Purpose: This tool helps structural designers calculate and analyze different types of loads on building structures, including dead loads, live loads, wind loads, snow loads, and seismic loads. It integrates directly with Revit and Dynamo, allowing for a seamless transition between the design and analysis phases.

        Features:

      2. Automatic Load Calculation: Automatically calculates dead loads, live loads, wind loads, and seismic loads based on building parameters and environmental factors. This reduces manual calculation errors and saves a lot of time, especially for complex and irregular building structures.
      3. Integration with Structural Analysis Software: The tool supports preliminary sizing of structural elements such as beams and columns, and can be used directly in structural analysis software such as SAP2000 and ETABS.
      4. Load Combination and Compliance Check: Automatically perform load combinations according to building codes (e.g. ASCE 7) and check if structural elements meet the required standards, ensuring safety and reliability.
      5. Material and Construction Cost Estimation: Provides estimates of total material and construction costs based on calculated loads and building dimensions.
      6. How To Use:

        1.Set Initial Parameters: X radius for bottom ellipse; Y radius for bottom ellipse; X radius for middle ellipse; Y radius for middle ellipse; rotation for middle ellipse; X radius for top ellipse; Y radius for top ellipse; rotation for top ellipse 2. Set Constant: materials unit weight; wind speed; seismic response coefficient;

        3.Generate Geometry: Allow the script to process these inputs to create the 3D solid or surface models. 4. Calculate Loads: Enter environmental data (like wind speed and seismic activity expectations) to calculate respective loads.

        5.Analyze and Export Data: Check the load combinations to ensure they meet building code requirements. Adjust design parameters if necessary to achieve compliance. Use the outputs for further analysis or export them for detailed examination in structural analysis software.

        Download and Implement: This tool is designed to be user-friendly and easily integrated into existing Revit and Dynamo workflows. Users can quickly download and implement it into their projects without extensive setup time.
