Hello everyone! My name is Daniel and I am a first-year masters student studying structural engineering. Last spring, I graduated from Cornell University with a bachelors in civil engineering and a minor in architecture. During my undergraduate years, I gained a lot of exposure with Rhino and Grasshopper in both research and studio contexts, as well as the programs Revit and AutoCAD from taking various structural courses.

The past two years, I have had the pleasure of interning with HDR at their architecture studio in Arlington, Virginia. Working alongside my in-house structural engineering peers, I was able to implement simple codes for preliminary parametric design from Grasshopper to ETABS. I also gained industry exposure in navigating Revit and Rhino via cloud applications.

I am interested in this course because I have never taken formal courses in Grasshopper or Dynamo and would like to be able to model within these programs with a strong understanding of computational design. While I do have a great exposure to Grasshopper, this program was self taught and I still feel unconfident in my ability to navigate Grasshopper with ease.

While I am still deciding between which of the two programs that I should work with, I am nevertheless excited to learn more about implementing computational design and parametric modeling. By the end of this course, I hope to become confident enough to successfully implement parametric modeling into my industry projects and be able to troubleshoot any modeling errors with ease.
