Brief Analysis of the Product
- It is an elastic band of rubber that is attached to itself to form a circle. It usually has some sort of fabric around it so that your hair is not getting snagged by the rubber
- They can come in a variety of colors and sizes, from a rubber band type hair tie to the more fancy scrunchies which involve more fabric
- Is used by wrapping around hair to secure it up and out of the wearer's face
- Eventually they stretch or break from usage, and tend to disappear without a trace
Key Features that Promote Sustainability
- They are reusable
- They come in minimal packaging and can be bought in bulk
- Can be bought from small businesses (however it is usually only scrunchies found being sold from small businesses)
Features that Reduce Sustainability
- Uses rubber, which is not sustainably or ethically harvested
- They are constantly getting lost because they are so small so you have to buy more when a person could have ten in their room and not know. They also break after some wear and tear. This causes unnecessary purchases, which is an unsustainable practice
- They are also most certainly mass produced in a factory, which means that there is bound to be waste and defects that are just thrown away and not recycled back into the system.
