Brief Analysis of the Product

  • Needs to be charged and therefore constantly requires electricity
  • Allows for connection to the internet and other various programs
  • Requires rare earth metals to function which are sourced from Peru, Chile, and several other countries
  • Supply chain is currently being transitioned towards recycling the metals and rare earth metals
  • When computer is no longer useful it is typically disposed of at technology waste plants where it sits in a warehouse.

Key Features that Promote Sustainability

  • Reduces the reliance on paper, notebooks, binders and other non-reusable accessories
  • Allows for a reduced need of traveling for work which cuts down on emissions created through transportation such as flying and driving

  • The mining of rare earth metals and semi-conductors is mostly unsustainable for the people living in the mining areas and for emissions as large amounts of toxic particles are released.
